Der Wiederaufbau des Berliner Stadtschlosses in Form des Humboldt Forums wurde von zahlreichen Medien und Publikationen begleitet. Eine der umfassendsten und spannendsten Arbeiten stellt die DVD-Box “Das Humboldt Forum – Ein Jahrhunderprojekt” dar.
Das Unternehmen Studio Hamburg Enterprises GmbH hat die DVD pünktlich zur Eröffnung des Humboldt Forums im Dezember 2020 veröffentlicht. Die Box ist keine schnöde Baudokumentation, sondern beschäftigt sich intensiv mit der Idee und den Anfängen des Schloss-Wiederaufbaus sowie mit der inhaltlichen Konzeption einer “Humbold Forum” genannten Kulturinstitution im Zentrum der Hauptstadt.
Carola Wedel begleitet das Projekt seit 20 Jahren
Bereits seit 2001 berichtete ZDF-Redakteurin Carola Wedel über die Bau- und Sanierungsfortschritte in Berlins historischer Stadtmitte. Sie war dabei, als 2008 der Palast der Republik abgerissen wurde und der Bau des neuen Schlossplatzes begann. Sie verfolgte die Kontroversen um den Wiederaufbau des Berliner Schlosses und erzählte die herausfordernde Geschichte der Namensgeber des Humboldt Forums – Alexander und Wilhelm von Humboldt.
Die DVD-Box präsentiert nun sechs ausgewählte Beiträge von Carola Wedel, die die Entwicklung des Humboldt Forums und auch der benachbarten Museumsinsel zu einer einzigartigen Museumslandschaft skizziert.

Der Blick bleibt also nicht auf dem Schlossplatz, sondern wird immer wieder weit darüber hinaus geworfen. Dies beschreibt die Grundstimmung der sechs auf der DVD enthaltenen Dokumentationen.
Die sechs Dokumentarfilme werden durch zahlreiche News- und Magazin-Beiträge ergänzt, die in den letzten dreizehn Jahren im ZDF und auf 3Sat zum Thema Schloss-Rekonstruktion ausgestrahlt wurden.
Das Gesamtpaket bietet daher detaillierte Einblicke hinter die Kulissen des Berliner Schlosses und stellt ein Stück Zeitgeschichte dar, da viele der einstigen Annahmen und Betrachtungen heute längst überholt sind oder in einem anderen Licht erscheinen. Das macht diese Publikation umso spannender.

The reconstruction of the Berlin City Palace in the form of the Humboldt Forum was accompanied by numerous media and publications. One of the most comprehensive and exciting works is the DVD box set “The Humboldt Forum – A Project of the Century”.
The company Studio Hamburg Enterprises GmbH has released the DVD in time for the opening of the Humboldt Forum in December 2020. The box is not a simple construction documentation, but deals intensively with the idea and the beginnings of the reconstruction of the palace as well as with the conception of the content of a cultural institution called “Humbold Forum” in the center of the capital.
CAROLA WEDEL HAS ACCOMPANIED THE PROJECT FOR 20 YEARS
ZDF editor Carola Wedel has been reporting on the progress of construction and renovation in Berlin’s historic city center since 2001. She was there when the Palace of the Republic was demolished in 2008 and construction of the new Schlossplatz began. It followed the controversies surrounding the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace and told the challenging story of the Humboldt Forum’s namesakes – Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt.
The DVD box set now presents six selected contributions by Carola Wedel, outlining the development of the Humboldt Forum and also the neighboring Museum Island into a unique museum landscape.
SIX SELECTED DOCUMENTARIES ON TWO DVD’S
Thus, the gaze does not remain on the Schlossplatz, but is repeatedly cast far beyond it. This describes the basic mood of the six documentaries included on the DVD.
The six documentaries are complemented by numerous news and magazine features that have been broadcast on ZDF and 3Sat over the past thirteen years on the subject of castle reconstruction.
The overall package therefore offers detailed insights behind the scenes of the Berlin palace and represents a piece of contemporary history, since many of the former assumptions and considerations have long since become outdated or appear in a different light today. This makes this publication all the more exciting.
